The Transport Helicopter is equipped with Hydra 70 Unguided 70mm rockets and AGM 114 Hellfire Air-to-Surface Missiles.
It is manned by two Pilots. When skyjacking, Alex will throw either of the pilots out the side and take control, while the other Pilot escapes by jumping out of the helicopter and likely falling to his death.
Early on, Blackhawk transport helicopters are the key component of strike teams, arriving at location and deploying soldiers before providing support fire with rockets. As the island slides into chaos, Gunships replace the Blackhawks in their strike team role.
During "Men Like Gods", it is advisable to escape the base by trying to get into the transport helicopter and flying away. You may be able to keep it after the mission. Notable mission appearances include "Biological Imperative", "Things to Come", "Shock and Awe", "The Last Man" and "One Thousand Suns". Transport helicopters are rarely seen flying round in the skies. If you start the mission "Things To Come" and exit to free roam, Gunship Strike Teams will be Gunship helicopters instead. This also applies to the helicopters assaulting a hive.
It is possible to still get one of these helicopters even after completing the main story. In order to do this you have to start the aerial assault event located in Midtown West, and complete it to the end and then exit the event (not replaying it) and there should be a transport helicopter flying around just as a regular gunship does. It can then be hijacked as normal.
In Prototype 2, the model used in the first outbreak has been modified to become two variants:
- The first is reminiscent of the model seen in Prototype. A basic setup with two machine guns, as well as two Rocket Launchers.
- The second variant is only encountered in the mission "Project Firehawk". This variant is equipped with the standard machine guns, but instead is outfitted with two highly powerful Thermobaric cannons in place of Rocket Launchers.
- The in-game transports bear more resemblance to Direct Action Penetrators (DAP's), a variant of the Blackhawk, designed to carry more weapons and serve in basic fire support and ground attack roles, while retaining the ability to transport troops.
- The UH-60 is not used by the Marines in real life, but rather the Army. The UH-1Y Venom is The Marines' standard issue transport helicopter.
