Langford was a Captain in United States Marine Corps stationed in Iraq. Langford informed James Heller at the infirmary that a sniper bullet had grazed his skull in the field. When Heller claimed that he wasn't able to recall this incident, Langford informed him that the doctors claimed that it was common to lose memories after a trauma.
However, Langford didn't inform Heller that he had been sent to test for recruitment into Blackwatch. Langford met Colonel Shawcross, a Blackwatch operative outside the base and was informed that Heller wasn't eligible to be part of Blackwatch.
